Riley has big effort vs. Notre Dame

La Canada, Calif. - In a scheduling quirk, 4-Star safety Dietrich Riley's St. Francis team took on Notre Dame hours before he was scheduled to head to South Bend to see THE Notre Dame University take on USC.

Dietrich Riley is a 4-Star safety on Scout.com, and his St. Francis team took on Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, just hours before he was scheduled to take an official visit to Notre Dame to see the Irish take on USC.

While it would be hard to match the intensity of Saturday's contest in South Bend, the St. Francis/Notre Dame game had plenty of drama, coming down to a big comeback from Notre Dame and a stand inside its own 10 as Notre Dame beat the host St. Francis team 28-24.

Riley certainly did his part to keep St. Francis on top for much of the game, including two first quarter interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and another touchdown on offense.

Riley is a physical player who makes very good reads in pass protection. He's so solid in coverage, that he was man on man with the slot receiver as a corner for much of the game. He's a strong runner who trades shake for brute force and downhill running on offense.

While St. Francis fell late to a very good Notre Dame team, Riley did his best to vanquish one Notre Dame team before witnessing a valiant effort of the Notre Dame University.

Scout.com was there to bring you Riley in action before his visit to South Bend.
