Class of 2011 Preseason California Rankings

The Golden State is home to the West's top player and the nation's top cornerback, DeAnthony Thomas, and three five-stars in all by

Whenever the state rankings come out for the West, you can expect there to be several Californians that are worthy of their ranking.

Heading the list is California's top prospect, and's #1-ranked cornerback, DeAnthony Thomas, the do-everything player from Los Angeles Crenshaw.

We've been saying for years he would end up the top prospect in California and he's done nothing but confirm that all spring and summer long.

"Thomas is one of those guys who, in all seriousness, could be a five-star at four positions," said West Regional Manager, Brandon Huffman. "Myself and Scott Kennedy ('s Director of Scouting), have been talking about that for a long time. What we do know is he's the best prospect in the Golden State this year, and it's not even close."

Right behind him is where the debate heats up, where five-star prospects like defensive end Greg Townsend (Beverly Hills) and defensive tackle Viliami Moala (Sacramento Grant) are hot on Thomas' heels.

That makes George Farmer, the receiver from Gardena Serra, the top offensive prospect in the state. Lakewood defensive tackle Todd Barr rounds out the top five in California.
