CIF Regional Basketball Finals Updates

Updates throughout Saturday of the regional basketball championships being played at four sites - Long Beach Arena, Cal State-Fullerton, ARCO Arena and Delta College.

Boys Basketball

Division 1

Southern California
Westchester (Los Angeles) 43, Fairfax (Los Angeles) 41: Scott Cutley's inside pass led to a dunk by Trevor Ariza, breaking a 41-all tie with 12 seconds left. Fairfax's Kevin Bell had two shots to even or win the game, the first was blocked by Marcus johnson and the second, a desperate 3-point attempt, missed to the left. Ariza finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Bobby Brown added 12 points. Josh Shipp led Fairfax with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Northern California
Oakland Tech 60, Valley (Sacramento) 48: Oakland Tech advanced to a state final rematch with Westchester.

Division 1

Southern California
Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 88, Inglewood 54: Wesley Washington led the way with 19 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Harrison Schane chipped in with 17 points and eight rebounds. Mike Gerrity and Marcel Jones each added 15 points. Ray Reed led Inglewood with 19 points.

Northern California
Woodcreek (Roseville) 65, Montgomery (Santa Rosa) 56: Woodcreek, in program's sixth year, will make its first state final appearance.

Division 3

Southern California
Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood) 80, Artesia (Lakewood) 62: Ed White hit on 5-of-6 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points for the winners.

Northern California
Foothill (Sacramento) 52, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) 35: Sam Kirby led the way with 17 points. Foothill took control with an 11-2 second-quarter run.

Division 4

Southern California
Horizon (San Diego) 59, Garces (Bakersfield) 56: After scoring 118 points in its last game, Garces was held in check by Horizon, which rallied from an eight-point deficit to pull out a win. Horizon scored the last 11 points on the game. Jared Dudley had a game-high 25 points for Horizon. Kyle Shiloh had 23 points and Robert Swift added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Garces.

Northern California
Hercules 75, Monte Vista Christian (Watsonville) 64: In Hercules' second year of existence, the program is heading to the state final after beating the top-seeded team.

Division 5

Southern California
Price (Los Angeles) 61, Immanuel (Reedley) 41: Darren Morris paced Price with 15 points. Price will attempt to become the first team to win four straight state titles in California.

Northern California
Modesto Christian 39, Eastside Prep 38: Modesto Christian, which played for the Division I title two years ago, is back in the finals, this time as a Division 5 school. Andray Glenn had 14 points and Liam Hughes added eight points and 14 rebounds for the winners.

Girls Basketball

Division 1

Southern California
Lynwood 54, Narbonne (Harbor City) 46: Despite an 0-of-13 performance from 3-point range and only 11 points from star Sade Wiley-Gatewood, Lynwood defeated Narbonne. Lorie Rayford led all scorers with 19 points.

Northern California
Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) 76, Laguna Creek (Elk Grove) 55: Khalilah Daniels and Mary-Eileen Gallagher each scored 18 points and Monique Coquilla added 16 for Mitty.

Division 2

Southern California
Troy (Fullerton) 51, Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 39: Amanda Livingston fouled out with four minutes left in the third quarter, yet Livingston held on for the win. There was confusion over Livingston's ejection, as many thought it was only her fourth foul -- not fifth. Livingston finished with 14 points.

Northern California
Vaccaville 58, Pinewood (Los Altos Hills) 49: Tamar Gruwell led four players in double figures with 16 points as Vaccaville will make its first state final appearance. Bernadette White added 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Division 3

Southern California
Bishop Montgomery (Torrance) 61, Mission Bay (San Diego) 40: Noelle Quinn scored 31 points and had 15 rebounds as Bishop Montgomery won a fourth straight Southern California title. Bishop Montgomery goes for a fourth straight state title next week.

Northern California
Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) 37, Presentation (San Jose) 23: sophomore star Georgia Onyemen led the way with 12 points for the winners. The teams are both members of the West Catholic Athletic League.

Division 4

Southern California
La Jolla Country Day 62, Marlborough (Los Angeles) 42: La Jolla Country Day is returning to the state finals for the third straight season. Candice Wiggins led LJCD with 31 points and 11 rebounds. LJCD won the last two Division 5 titles.

Northern California
St. Mary's (Stockton) 64, Piedmont 54: St. Mary's is back in the state final for the fourth straight season. In 2000, St. Mary's won the Division 4 title. In 2001, the team lost in the Division 4 final. Last year, St. Mary's won the Division 2 title.

Division 5

Southern California
Mission Prep (San Luis Obispo) 56, Central Valley Christian (Visalia) 19: Mission Prep has not played a close game all season. In Saturday's win, Kat Suderman, a 6-5 center, had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Northern California
Convent of the Sacred Heart (San Francisco) 53, Eastside Prep 45: Convent of the Sacred Heart will be making its first state final appearance.
