On the Inside

An inside look at the latest football recruiting news for the state of Colorado.

Not sure if big Montbello tackle Isaiah Claypool will go DI right out of high school but expect him on a DI field after time at a juco. Claypool is a very long 6-6 with a crazy wingspan. With the right coaching he could become a very good player and a great pickup.

Looks like Carzell Vickers of Valor will attend Glendale Community in Arizona. The 6-4 185 pound Vickers, got numerous DI looks last season and has the raw size and speed to work into a productive receiver.

A player ready for a big season is Cherokee Trail defensive tackle Dillon Zacharias. The 6-3 280 pounder came back from injury last season and played well as his Cougars went on a run in playoffs. Zacarias has been an All-Conference performer since his sophomore season and is a nice hidden prospect in the state.

Pending Offer?

Denver East receiver Justin Holden will attend camp at CSU at the end of this week. A strong performance for the Rams staff could bring a new offer. It looks as if the Rams will bring in some of Colorado's top non committed talent this week for their pace. Holden's teammate Isaiah Hendrix will attend as well

QB Sean Rubalcaba and his crew from Grand Junction competed at the Red Bull 7on7 Finals in Dallas and represented Colorado well making a deep run against very good competition.

Dynamic Duos

This upcoming season will see some great duos across Colorado. One duo I'm really looking forward to watching is the Mullen backfield of QB Cyler Miles and RB Addie Brown. Due to graduation this pair will need to have a huge season if the Mustangs want to get back to the state championship game.

Also, Steve Donatell and Joe Hansley of Highlands Ranch should be fun to watch. Donatell, who holds DI offers is an athletic southpaw QB who has improved as a thrower, while Hansley, who also holds DI offers, is one of, if not the most versatile player in Colorado.

Denver East may have the most talented set of runners in the state with 2012 prospect Isaiah Hendrix and 2012 prospect Shahid Hoover. Both have the ability to score anytime they touch the ball and they are very likely to rush over 2,000 yards combined.

Also, check out the corners at Chaparral. Gavin McHenry and Andrew McReynolds are as good as set together as I have seen in a while. McHenry, who holds two DI offers, is one of the fastest kids in Colorado while McReynolds, who getting DI looks, has very good balls skills as evidenced by his five interceptions and six passes defended last year.

Raptors Rising

Although Eaglecrest High School has been short on wins over the past few seasons, they are not short on DI talent and often produce one or two players that catch the eye of DI programs. This year is no exception as two 2012 Eaglecrest players are getting looks. WR/DB Maleaque Washington is a 6-1 195 athlete with great ups, good speed and DI size. His teammate Zeck Green is a 6-5 235 pound specimen that schools are keeping a very close eye on.
