The past few seasons Grand Junction High School has become a hidden gem for college football talent. Recently the Tigers have placed multiple players at DI, FCS and DII programs while winning a high percentage of their games. The class of 2014 for the Tigers will again see multiple players garner college attention. One such player is 2014 RB Austin Lewis. Lewis, a 5-11 200 pounder that runs a 4.6 forty, rushed for over 1,000 yards last season while averaging eight plus yards a carry.
This weekend Lewis embarks on what will be a very busy offseason as he attends Junior Day at the University of North Texas. Along with North Texas, Lewis has junior day invitations from Air Force, Southwest Minnesota State, Duquesne, Washington and Lee and Colgate.
This offseason Lewis is working hard to maintain his strength while bringing his forty into the 4.5 range, working out six days a week. Grand Junction, who went 6-4 last season, will attend a team camp at the University of San Diego June 23-27.
