Most Valuable Pick

Despite being down early Valor Christian moves on to a fifth straight title game.

Christian McCaffrey's pick six in the fourth quarter of the Valor versus Cherokee Trail semifinal was the epitome of McCaffrey's game and four years of football in Colorado have been all about. Making the right, big play at the right time is McCaffrey's M.O.

The 45 yard interception return capped a day in which McCaffrey and an opportunistic Eagle D overcame an early deficit to defeat Cherokee Trail 42-23. For the day McCaffrey rushed for 228 yards and three scores against a Cougar defense that is one of the best in the state.

The win places Valor in a position to win a fifth straight state title, second straight in the 5A classification. Standing in the way of the potential five-peat is an undefeated top seeded Boulder Fairview squad. Yesterday on the other side of the bracket the Knights defeated ThunderRidge 38-28 in a game that saw the two teams combine for over 1,000 yards of offense.

Interesting matchups abound next week in the title game, the most intriguing sees Valor's two junior corners Eric Lee and Brian Dawkins Jr., both D1 recruits, matched against prolific receiver Sam Martin and big play specialist Cameron Frazier of Fairview.
