2014 Pine Creek middle linebacker Matt List was a key piece to his Eagles bringing home a first ever football title. After two early season losses to 5A squads, the 4A Eagles dominated the remainder of the season with a rugged run game and stingy defense.
List led the defense, posting 108 tackles, forcing three fumbles, registering 2.5 sacks and grabbing an interception. List's on field production as well as his leadership and tremendous work ethic has gained the 5-11 220 pound backer college attention.
List reports that since the championship in late November numerous schools have been in contact including Northern Colorado, Air Force, Colorado, Sacred Heart, CSU-Pueblo, Adams State and Western State. Along with these schools List has also heard from Wyoming, Northern Arizona, Colorado State, Liberty and Coastal Carolina.
Having put a cap on his high school career, List is focused on preparing his game for college working on, "footwork, agility and speed. Those college boys are very fast and I need to do whatever it takes to be the fastest and quickest defender on the field." Breaking down his game the stout backer with surprising 4.69 speed says his strengths on the field are, "reading the run and attacking the gaps as a middle linebacker, as well as giving 100% effort every play."
A beast in the weightroom with a 350 pound bench and 315 pound clean, List has the work ethic to potentially thrive and may be worth a look for the right program.
