Sophomores Pace Overland

With the help of multiple underclassmen, Overland High School is off to a strong start this basketball season.

Thus far, in the early 2013-2014 basketball season, the Overland Trailblazers have shown themselves as one of the most talented young teams in Colorado, standing six and two as they prepare for conference play after the holiday break.

Foremost amongst the talented underclassmen is 6-9 240 pound sophomore De'Ron Davis. Currently Davis is averaging 15.5 points and 6.9 rebounds a game. For a young player Davis is very consistent scoring between 12 and 20 points in every game except for a blowout win that saw Davis get limited minutes. Obviously possessing great size, Davis also has the ability to handle the ball and shoot from the outside.

Along with Davis, fellow sophomore Jervae Robinson has played very well the early portion of this season. Thus far, the 5-10 guard is averaging over 10 points a game, with a high of 24 in the first game of the season. Robinson, working with talented fellow guards Austin Conway and Tyler Stevenson, will create problems for Overland opponents on the perimeter, thus creating opportunities for Davis on the inside.

Next week, Overland will face a balanced six and one Regis Jesuit squad, another young squad that looks to make noise this season.
