Martin Talks Temple

Cherokee Trail DE Jacob Martin heads east to help the Temple Owls turn things around.

Bucking a trend of Colorado athletes staying close to home, Cherokee Trail DE/OLB Jacob Martin reported to PrepColorado earlier today that he will play his college football at Temple.

The 6-3 225 pound defender referenced the coaching staff and Philadelphia as keys to his decision saying, "I like the coaches a lot and love the city."

Martin was scheduled to take an official to Wyoming this upcoming weekend but he says will not make the visit.

Talking about Philadelphia and an east coast program Martin stated, "I thought it time for a change from suburbia and it just felt like home."

Over the past two seasons Martin established himself as one of the most versatile defenders in Colorado. For a strong Cherokee Trail defense Martin lined up in multiple spots based on down in distance. Although primarily playing with his hand on the ground in high school, Martin's range, speed and ability to play in the open field could allow him to move to outside linebacker.
