For the class of 2014 multiple top recruits from the state of Colorado have opted to play at military academies. Now added to the list of athletes serving their country is Silver Creek defensive lineman Levi Cecil. The 6-4 265 pound DL/DT reports to PrepColorado that he will play at the Air Force Academy.
Cecil, chose the Academy over other mid-major offers including New Mexico State. This past season Cecil had 69 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions on the way to gaining All-State honors.
Looking at Air Force and the reasons for his decision and why Air Force stood out Cecil says, "The coaches, the facilities and the school itself. It is an incredible opportunity that I could not pass up."
Regarding the academic and military commitment inherent to the Academy Cecil adds, "I never thought about the military coming from a family that does not have a ton of military background, but I'm excited to do something different with my life."
Cecil made a day trip to Air Force yesterday and made his decision last night. Cecil joins Longmont defensive end Mile Rivera and Discovery Canyon quarterback Alec Wirtjes as Air Force Academy commits. Also opting for academies were Windsor teammates Zach Peck and Trenton Noller who will play at Navy as well Valor offensive tackle Isaiah Holland who will attend Army.
