In the midst of a tough 3-7 season 2015 receiver Patrick Stephens of Mullen was a bright spot, grabbing 54 receptions and scoring seven touchdowns.
Looking at Stephens' game he is sneaky good, showing surprising speed, great hands and the ability to adjust to the ball to make catches. Further, Stephens is not afraid to catch in traffic and can make yards after the catch. For Mullen, Stephens lines up in multiple spots, but is best suited for the slot at the next level.
Stephens, who is gaining increasing attention, did well at the Nike camp earlier this spring. To build on his recruiting momentum Stephens has a very busy summer planned. This weekend he is competing with his Colorado Connect squad at the Mile High Shootout 7 on 7 tournament. Next week he will camp at Colorado and the following week at Utah State. Stephens will then hit camp at Northern Colorado and then potentially Wyoming.
According to Stephens he is hearing the most from Utah State, Wyoming, Holy Cross, Weber State, North Dakota, South Dakota State, Northern Colorado and the University of San Diego. Stephens has also heard from Colorado, Colorado State and Kansas State. Stephens says San Diego, Utah State and Holy Cross are showing the most interest.
Stephens's game is well worth a look and between camps and what should be a strong senior season, his recruiting profile should increase over the next few months, eventually leading to an offer.
