Colorado's class of 2015 QBs is a very interesting group in that many of the state's best are awaiting a first offer as colleges take a wait and see approach. Pine Creek's Tommy Lazzaro, Chatfield's Kyle Winkler, Douglas County's Rope Ruel and others all will work this summer and next fall for team wins and individual offers.
Another 2015 Colorado QB working hard is Pomona's Justin Roberts. Last season, the 6-3 195 pound Roberts hit 65% of his passes on 124 attempt in a run based offense. With the graduation of 2,000 yard rusher Chris Marquez, more of the offensive load will fall on Roberts in 2014. In preparation for this added responsibility and in an attempt to gain an offer, Roberts is putting in tons of work.
This spring and early summer Roberts has had the opportunity to throw for Colorado, Cornell, New Mexico State, South Dakota State and North Dakota. Along with this Roberts worked out at the Dallas Elite 11.
Roberts also has a rigorous camp schedule with stops at Colorado, Southern Illinois, North Dakota, Wyoming, Southern Utah and South Dakota State all on the itinerary. Along with these individual camps, Roberts will camp with his Pomona squad at Colorado State.
Beyond the schools where Roberts will camp, he is also hearing from New Mexico State, UConn, Harvard, Montana, Fordham and the University of San Diego. The schools that have been in most consistent contact are South Dakota State, Harvard, Wyoming and Southern Illinois.
Like fellow 2015 Colorado QBs, Roberts' college future rests with strong camp performances this summer and a very good senior campaign.
