Creek Athlete Ready for Season

Already holding one offer, 2015 Cherry Creek WR/DB Tyus Carter hopes a strong senior campaign brings more interest.

Athletes abound at Cherry Creek.  On paper the Bruins, coming off a 10-2 2013 campaign, return numerous DI prospects.  One such player is DB/WR Tyus Carter.  As a receiver Carter was a big play threat averaging 19 yards a receptions and scoring four times.  Defensively Carter had two interceptions. A very quick athlete, the 5-11 170 pound Cater has good feet and surprising strength.  Due to his combination of skills colleges have taken notice with Northern Colorado making an offer earlier this summer.

Thus far this summer Carter has camped at Colorado, Northern Colorado, New Mexico State and Wyoming.  Carter will finish his summer camps this week with a trip to Colorado State.  Beyond the Northern Colorado offer Carter feels Wyoming and Utah State are the programs showing the most interest stating, “a couple of schools want to see my first three games to make a final assessment.  That is what Wyoming and Utah State have expressed to me.”  Equally effective on both sides of the ball Carter says colleges are evaluating him for both offense and defense.  Northern Colorado says it is Carter’s decision.

This summer Carter has worked hard on the specifics of his game.  On defense Carter feels, “my technique has improved on defense in man to man coverage as well as zone coverage.”  Offensively, Carter has worked on, “route running and reading coverage.”

Taking a look at his team and their prospects this upcoming season Carter says, “We are looking really good, a lot or returning starters on both sides of the ball, so the chemistry is definitely there.” With a roster filled with talented players like Carter, Cherry Creek will be a contender for a state title.
