Days away from his team’s season opener against Columbine, Fountain-Fort Carson athlete D.J. Leatimua has picked up his first offer. The versatile 6-2 240 pound linebacker and quarterback reports to PrepColorado that the University of Montana is on board.
Leatimua is one of the most intriguing athletes in Colorado, bringing a physical presence to both sides of the ball. Defensively, Leatimua patrols the field from his middle backer spot, big enough to take on blockers and tenacious enough to make plays from sideline to sideline. Further, Leatimua’s athleticism allows him to drop into coverage. Leatimua coupled with teammate Drue Harris comprise a very strong linebacker tandem.
With his impressive size and solid athleticism Leatimua will add to his offer sheet at the season continues. Of potential suitors Leatimua says Wyoming is showing increasing interest.
Right now Leatimua is focused on Friday’s matchup on the road against Columbine. Looking at his team Leatimua says, “We are actually looking pretty good, a lot of returners and good leadership. We just all have to stay focused and have one goal and we'll be on our way to a good looking season.”
