Lazzaro and Pine Creek Start Strong

Tommy Lazzaro leads his squad to their first win as Pine Creek begins its title defense.

2013 4A state champs Pine Creek kicked off the defense of their title with a solid 49-12 home win versus Pueblo Centennial.  In true Pine Creek fashion the win came as a combined team effort senior RB/LB Josh Odom powering his way to 175 yards while sophomore Brock Domann rushed for 94.  Overseeing the offense was senior QB Tommy Lazzaro who compiled nearly 200 yards of total offense while scoring twice.

Lazzaro, a 6-3 200 pound three year starter is getting looks from Wyoming, Montana State, North Dakota State, South Dakota, Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.  Lazzaro also plans on taking an unofficial trip to San Diego State.  Regarding what school is closest to offering Lazzaro says, “I have no clue, I’m just going to focus on Pine Creek right now.”

After the first game of the season Lazzaro reflects on his game saying, “I have a lot to work on with footwork and getting people in the right places and doing the right things and just working as a team.”

With Falcon High School on the docket for this week, Lazzaro will continue to focus on his team and a repeat, one game at a time.  Regarding recruiting, the big and athletic Lazzaro will see increasing interest culminating sometime this season with a first offer.
