Recruiting News and Notes

A look at the recruiting news from across the state of Colorado.

Last night big (6-5 270) Jack Maly reported he picked up his fifth offer, coming from the University of Montana.  Maly also reports he is gaining increasing interest from Georgetown and Eastern Michigan.

2016 Rock Canyon offensive lineman Dalton Lawrence is reporting he has received his first set of mail with Mizzou, Colorado and Oregon paying the postage.  It is early but the 6-4 250 pounder has looked good in the first weeks of the season.

Good to see former Denver East safety Jalen Moore on the field again.  The hard hitting defender moved to California and last week played his first game with Upland High School.  Hopefully recruiters don’t  lose track of this very physical safety.

D.J. Luke of Cherry Creek has yet to gain an offer but continues to hear from Kansas State, Utah State and Colorado.  Luke and his Cherry Creek crew have a big one this week as they take on Cherokee Trail.

Numerous Colorado prepsters hit the Colorado game this past weekend to see the Buffs beat Hawaii.  Pine Creek tight end Parker Hammond, a big, blocking, beast said, “Colorado was really good.  Beautiful campus and the Buffs pulled out the win.”

Fountain-Fort Carson linebacker D.J. Leatimua also hit Boulder saying, “It was real good.  The experience was great and Colorado showed out.”

Right now North Dakota, South Dakota State, San Diego and Southwest Minnesota State are very interested in Pomona senior QB Justin Roberts.  The 6-4 senior, who also holds a 3.8 GPA, has paced his Pomona squad to a top five ranking.

Colorado State fans should be smiling as verbal commit Olabisi Johnson had a huge game in a 34-33 Bear Creek OT victory tonight (Thursday) over Lakewood.  Johnson had two pics, recovered a fumble and caught the winning touchdown in overtime.
