Phenoms

Best of the best from last weekend's high school football action.

D’Evelyn quarterback Owen Burke continued his hot streak, throwing for over 530 yards for the second week in a row.  During a 38-35 loss to Conifer, Burke had 530 yards and four scores.   For Conifer, senior back Kailib Geer rushed for 203 yards and two scores.

Another hot QB, Chris Helbig of Holy Family, threw for 315 yards in a 43-7 win over Berthoud.

Part of an impressive duo, senior signal caller Brenden Fulton is having a very strong season throwing for over 1,900 yards.  Fulton’s top target is fellow senior Jay Frye.  Friday Frye averaged 24 yards a catch on the way to 144 yards and two scores.

Tequan Baker, who has been on a tear all season, had his best game Friday against Legend rushing for 344 yards and three scores.  For the season the 5-11 183 pound junior has rushed for over 1,300 yards and 18 scores.

Junior RB Dane Myers helped Mead even their record to 3-3 with a 227 yard four touchdown performance in a 46-6 victory over Niwot.  Big plays were key as Myers averaged over 13 yards a carry in the win.

As per his history, senior quarterback Johnny Feauto has big games at the right time.  That was the case Friday in a big matchup with fellow unbeaten Rocky Mountain.  Feauto threw for 376 yards and three scores.  The big performance kept Fairview unbeaten as they defeated Rocky Mountain 44-28.  Most impressive on the season, Feauto has only thrown four interceptions while hitting 19 TD passes.  Feauto’s go to target in the game was senior receiver Tim Ryan who had 14 catches for 185 yards and a score.

220 pound banger Mike Rocha of Montrose has scored eight touchdowns in the past two weeks.  Currently Montrose in on a three game win streak.

On the defensive side of the ball it would be tough to match the performance of Discovery Canyon’s Dylan Draper.  In a 56-21 win over Mitchell Draper had two interceptions, eight tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a pass defended.

Thursday Trevonte Tasco punished Standley Lake with 242 rush yards during a 54-7 Denver South win.  Over the past two games Tasco has rushed for nearly 550 yards and scored six times.
