Playing in Colorado’s toughest conference, Mullen did not have the season they wanted regarding record, but the Mustangs were solid and competitive. One of the leaders of team and a top DB in the state, senior James Jones had 60 plus tackles, an interception and three passes defended.
Already holding offers from Air Force, Morgan State, Grambling, Hawaii, Northern Colorado and Sacramento State, Jones continues to gain interest from multiple schools as he sets an itinerary for visits. Tops on his visit list and rightfully so, is Hawaii and then much closer to home Air Force, both in January. Beyond his current suitors Jones reports increasing interest from multiple schools. Saying recruiting is, “getting hot” Eastern Washington, Ball State, Army, Cal, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Boise State have recently been in contact.
A long 6-1, Jones is a versatile player that has spent time as a safety and corner. Much of this season Jones played corner, but free safety looks to be his natural college position due to his smarts, coverage ability and skill making tackles in the open field. With offers on the table Jones is taking his time to find the right fit before making his college decision.
