Umu Makes New In State

2015 Heritage lineman Frank Umu, after an early commit, picks a new school.

With Colorado State Head Coach Jim McElwain taking the Florida Gator job, many story lines have emerged regarding Colorado’s top recruits for the class of 2015.  One of the biggest stories is the commit today of 2015 Heritage two way lineman Frank Umu.  Today Umu made a second in state commit and, after a call from Colorado coach Mike McIntyre, Umu verballed to the Buffs.

The 6-5 275 pound Umu has tremendous upside for the college game.  A big body, Umu is surprisingly athletic and is equally adept on both side of the ball.  An early commit to Colorado State, two weeks ago Umu de-committed and reopened his recruitment.  Since Umu stepped  away from Colorado State, Coach MacIntyre and the Colorado staff have been in contact.  Special team’s coordinator Toby Neinas had a home visit with the Um family, which according to Umu’s father was, “great, filled with information about the school, football and the future.”

Multiple schools showed interest in Umu.  Prior to today’s verbal to Colorado, Umu sent film to UCLA, USC, Washington, BYU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Minnesota as well as others.

Umu was recruited as both an offensive and defensive lineman, but will play defensive line for the Buffaloes.
