CSU-Pueblo has moved, in a relatively short time, to the top a division II football harnessing great coaching and an eye for talent, especially in state talent. Following that formula the current DII national champion ThunderWolves have targeted and offered 2015 Pomona quarterback Justin Roberts.
The CSU-Pueblo offer is in addition to previous offers from Southwest Minnesota State and Nebraska-Kearney. Roberts reports that North Dakota is also showing interest. Roberts is done with official visits and hopes to make his college decision sometime next week.
Roberts is a good fit for the balanced CSU-Pueblo offense that saw senior quarterback Chris Bonner throw for nearly 3,300 yards and 30 scores while becoming an NFL prospect.
Roberts, at 6-4, with good feet and an arm capable of making all the throws fits the ThuderWolves program well and could, in the next couple of seasons compete for the quarterback position.
