One of the most interesting prospects in Colorado is 2016 Strasburg High School quarterback Mitchell Martin. Big, with a strong arm and good athleticism Martin helped his team to a 10-1 record and the playoffs.
Martin is working hard to improve his game and profile this offseason. Right now Martin is mentoring with former ThunderRidge, Fort Lewis and NFL quarterback Tim Jenkins. Martin is also sharing snaps at quarterback with Dylan McCaffrey and Dante Sparaco for the high profile Colorado 7on7 squad Team Weapon X.
Looking at his own game Martin feels he could, “use my eyes to manipulate the defense better. My footwork could get better and you can always get more accurate.” Regarding strengths of his game Martin says, “I think I lead well. I love to lead. I have love for the game that I can't explain. I think I have good size and I think I have good arm strength and accuracy.”
Coming from a small school Martin knows recruiting attention is tough to come by stating, “right now I'm fighting an uphill battle coming from a small school.” Montana, South Dakota State and the University of San Diego are in contact. In May Martin will compete at the Elite 11 regional camp in Chicago. Martin hopes to camp at the schools showing interest as well as at Colorado and Colorado State.
Martin is putting in the work this offseason and will see his interest grow, at 6-3 195 pounds and boasting a 23.5 200 meters, Martin has the skill set many schools are looking for.
