Regis Jesuit High School has established itself as one of Colorado’s top programs on the strength of a very stingy defense. Key to this defense has been stout interior defensive line play. One of the key returnees of the Regis defensive line is 2016 prospect Ace Escobedo.
Escobedo, a 6-3 270 pound run stuffer, also registered five sacks last season. Escobedo, who reports a 4.96 forty, has great get off from his interior defensive line position. Escobedo also plays with good leverage and not only takes on double teams but often defeats double teams to get a piece of the tackle.
Escobedo’s tenacious play has not gone unnoticed, garnering attention from multiple schools of various levels. Escobedo reports hearing from Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Lehigh, Harvard, Penn and Yale, as well as Colorado School of Mines and CSU-Pueblo.
When PrepColorado caught up with Escobedo he was returning from Junior Day at Wyoming. Regarding his time with the Cowboys Escobedo said,” I loved the coaches, they really made a family atmosphere and showed that they care about their players and that is something I really look for. Also the facilities are very nice and it is a good school.”
Escobedo reports he is hitting the weights hard getting in the weightroom six days a week. Already a big kid, if Escobedo puts on more size and keeps his quickness and burst more schools will show interest in the 2016 defender.
