Colorado’s Top Players Compete in Vegas

Many of Colorado's top football athletes are competing this weekend in Las Vegas in the Pylon 7on7 national tournament.

High profile football athletes increasingly put their games on display playing in big time 7on7 tournaments.  Few of these tournaments draw more of the west’s and nation’s top prospects than the Pylon 7on7 held this weekend in Vegas.

Highlighting the Colorado contingent is the well-known Team Weapon X.  Weapon X boasts 2017 quarterback Dylan McCaffrey of Valor Christian.  McCaffrey will split time with fellow 2017 QB Dante Sparaco from Glenwood Springs and 2016’s Mitchell Martin of Strasburg High.  The quarterbacks will throw to 2017 Mullen running back Marcus McElroy and Valor receiver Ben Waters.  Defensively Pine Creek SS/OLB JoJo Domann and Mullen safety Christian Cumber lead Weapon X.

Beyond Weapon X, Top Gun 7on7 from Colorado also has many of Colorado’s top prospects.  Fairview outside backer Carlo Kemp will compete as will Legacy QB Matt Lynch and Columbine athlete Mikey Griebel

Recruiters and analysts in Vegas have much to watch.  For Weapon X, QB Martin is a strong armed, prospect from a small school and is under the radar.  Also, receiver Ben Waters of Valor is a big and consistent pass catcher.  For Top Gun, Kemp’s ability to show coverage skills could move the talented player toward becoming a national level recruit.
