Offers are coming at a daily pace for 2017 Cherry Creek defenders. 2017 Creek linebacker Santino Marchiol has pulled offers from the likes of Nebraska, Wisconsin and Florida State and today Marchiol’s front seven mate Jon Van Diest gained a first offer with the University of Colorado now on board.
Van Diest, a starter since his freshman year, is one of Colorado’s most productive defenders. This past season, while helping the Bruins to a state title, Van Diest had 11 sacks to go with 62 tackles and an interception. A tenacious pass rusher, Van Diest has already registered 21 sacks in his young high school career. Beyond his ability to get to the passer, Van Diest is stout against the run as has the ability to play from a two point or with his hand on the ground.
This offseason, Van Diest has gotten after it in the gym, gaining good weight and adding strength. Beyond Colorado, Van Diest is hearing from Colorado State and Missouri. Right now Van Diest is focused on team activities as Cherry Creek prepares to defend their title. Van Diest is also attempting to put together is college camp schedule for the summer.
