Colleges looking for a versatile, hardworking, smart offensive lineman would do well to check out Rock Canyon’s Dalton Lawrence. The 6-4 260 pound 2016 prospect played up and down the Rock Canyon line last season as needed, showing the ability to pass block, pull and also get to secondary defenders. Along with his work on the offensive line Lawrence is also a solid long snapper.
Recently Lawrence picked up an offer from DII Adams State, but he hopes to garner DI attention this summer as he hits the camp circuit. The current camp itinerary looks like Air Force, Wyoming, South Dakota State and Northern Colorado. Of the schools showing interest, Lawrence feels Air Force and South Dakota State are the closest to making an offer and he hopes strong performances at their camps will bring an offer.
This offseason Lawrence is putting in the work focusing on his team and their success while also hoping for the payoff of a scholarship. Regarding his work Lawrence says, “I have been making major improvements. I've gained at least 25 pounds on every lift, increased speed and footwork, gained weight and continued to improve my technique and football knowledge.”
Lawrence’s best attribute is his ability to play multiple spots. Most likely an interior player, in a pinch Lawrence could move out to tackle. Further, his knowledge of the entire offensive line is an attribute much needed for today’s offensive lineman.
