Few high profile football athletes have handled the recruitment process better than 2017 Pomona High School offensive tackle Jake Moretti. The 6-5 280 pound junior dominated opponents this past season with a combination of physical play and athleticism making him a national level recruit, knocking on the door of 20 offers from elite programs across the Power 5 conferences. Added to his very impressive list Moretti reports that the University of Georgia has extended an offer. The Bulldog offer is in addition to offers from Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State and in states Colorado and Colorado State as well as numerous others.
Throughout this process Moretti has kept a very level head humbly staying focused on his Pomona squad and team activities in lieu of college camps, visits and combines. Moretti is also sketching a broad timeline regarding his future commit stating, “I'd like to make it sooner than later but just when it feels right. Tough to say when but it's not going to be a last minute thing.”
Regarding Georgia and the Bulldog offer Moretti says he spoke with offensive line coach Rob Sale and Head Coach Mark Richt. Moretti does not, as of yet, have specific plans to visit Athens but says he, “would love to, it is just if we can.”
Always focused on his Pomona squad, a talented, perennial playoff team that could compete for a state title, Moretti says coming out of team camp the Panthers are, “looking solid, really balanced overall this year.” The Panthers will have one of the more intriguing offenses this upcoming season as 256 pound quarterback and fellow 2017 high profile prospect Dante Sparaco runs and throws behind the Moretti anchored offensive line.
