One of the most intriguing prospects in Colorado is 2016 wideout Ammon Johnson. Last season Johnson played for Cherokee Trail, but an offseason move allows him to play for defending state champ Cherry Creek. Johnson, along with Ashton Riley, JC Chery, Kyrie Owens and Jonah Star have to pick up the yards lost with the departure of big time performers Milo Hall, Joseph Parker, D.J. Luke as well as others.
Right now Johnson is finishing up a tour in Florida where he camped at the University of Florida where the 6-3 wideout stated, “I did great! I believe I was the best receiver there. We did one on ones for only 10 to 15 minutes but I went 5 for 5 during the period.” Also, while in Florida, Johnson’s Colorado All-Stars 7on7 squad competed at the IMG nationals. Playing with Johnson in Florida were a very talented group from Colorado that included Sam Warren, Ashton Riley, Dom Chapa and Arizona up and comer Bryce Jackson of Arizona State champ Chandler.
Upon his return to Colorado, Johnson will continue to work with his Cherry Creek squad, especially returning quarterback Joe Caplis who is looking forward to playing with the 6-3 receiver. With time left this summer Johnson will camp at Air Force and Arizona State.
