Checking in on 2016 Cherokee Trail offensive lineman Ashton Torres the first thing the big lineman talks about is his Cougar squad enthusiastically stating, “I’m really looking forward to this upcoming season, we will definitely be better than last year!” Looking at his squad Torres cites Conner Nantkes, Quincy Voss, Mike Thelan and Anthony Holmes as players to watch for this upcoming season.
Torres, who currently holds offers from Hawaii, Air Force, Idaho and Northern Colorado, has camped this summer at Colorado State, Colorado, Kansas State and Wyoming. Torres will hit his final camp next week when he travels to Arizona State. Beyond his offers the schools where Torres camped this summer, “all want to see how this upcoming season goes before they make a decision.” Colleges are looking at Torres at multiple positions but most want him to play guard. Torres says Kansas State has talked to him about playing center.
Right at 300 pounds, Torres is one of Colorado’s most physical run blockers bringing an attitude when he gets his hands on defenders. At the next level Torres has the potential to be a very effective interior run blocker.
