Steven O’ Malley will hit you! Immediately film on the 2016 Cherry Creek SS/LB shows his enthusiasm to play physical, looking to dish out punishment on every snap. Somewhat overshadowed by the attention 2017 Creek linebacker Santino Marchiol appropriately receives, O’Malley is another very talented piece of what will be an impressive Bruin defense.
Colleges have taken note of the 6-0 230 pound banger, who is skilled enough to play both safety and backer. His first camp this summer was with the Cornhuskers where he toured facilities with Nebraska linebacker coach Trent Bray. O’Malley has also camped at Kansas State and Wyoming and the All-Poly camp in Utah. Regarding the All-Poly O’Malley states it was, “like no other camp I've ever been to. There were over 130 college coaches there and it was just different.”
O’Mallley says most schools are looking at him as a linebacker. Two schools, the University of South Dakota and Adams State have made offers. According to O’Malley, beyond his offers, the schools showing the most interest are Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota State.
A hitter who is great taking on blockers and blitzing off the edge, O’Malley is working hard to improve his knowledge of the game and playing the ball while it is in the air. As these pieces of his game improve look for O’Malley to gain more offers. Only 6-0, his offer sheet would be longer if he was taller, but schools that like hardnosed defenders will have a difficult time passing on this football player.
