The weight of expectation for Dylan McCaffrey is heavy. The 6-5 210 pound quarterback is one of the nation’s top prospects for the class of 2017 holding offers from many of the nation’s top Power 5 programs. Further, last season McCaffrey and his Valor team, accustomed to state titles, came up just short losing a thriller to Cherry Creek in the title game.
Last night, in a zero week opener, McCaffrey and his Valor squad sent a message in a home game defeating Bonneville, Idaho High School 51-12. McCaffrey went right to work scoring three times in the first half with two passes and a run. Passing McCaffrey was 5 of 6 for 173 yards with touchdown throws of 56 and 81 yards and a 19 yard run for a score. The primary recipient of McCaffrey’s throws was senior receiver Booker Schelhaas who had 142 receiving yards and two scores on two receptions.
Beyond McCaffrey and Schelhaas Valor showed off a stable of playmakers including freshman running back Joshia Davis, returner Christian Davis and receiver Cole Baker.
There is no rest for McCaffrey and his Valor crew as they next face tough conference opponent Pomona High School followed by Bentonville High School of Arkansas and Salt Lake East.
