The Heritage Eagles, after a rough opener against defending state champ Cherry Creek, have rebounded, winning two straight putting up 30 points in each of the wins. This week Heritage looks to build on the win streak when they face Smoky Hill.
Heritage, now into conference play has a schedule that, if the Eagles take care of business, could lead to a playoff berth. One of the keys to Heritage is a stout front on both sides of the ball. Two of the keys to the Eagle front are 2016 brothers Marshall and Payton Cain. Marshall, 6-5 240 is a very active 4-3 defensive end that play well against the run and can also pressure the passer. Payton is a technically sound offensive lineman.
Marshall and Payton are hearing most from the University of Montana. The Griz like Payton as an offensive tackle and Marshall as a defensive tackle. The Cains hope to take a visit to the University of Montana on the 26th when the team hosts Norther Arizona.
The Cain’s are making claim to as one of Colorado’s top football families. Older brother Connor, a former PrepColorado All-Stater, is now getting significant time at the University of Wyoming playing defensive tackle.
