Fans of Colorado high school sports are well aware of Fort Morgan senior Toby McBride. The 6-3 240 pound DE/RB is a multi-time state champ wrestler and an early commit to Colorado State. McBride is also the big brother of up and coming prospect Trey McBride. Trey, a 6-3 sophomore, does it all, playing both sides of the ball, had three TD catches this week as Fort Morgan remained unbeaten taking it to Englewood 50-0. Regarding playing with his younger brother Toby says, “I just try to give him little tips here and there about things I've learned from going to football camps. He does a good job as it is!”
Another brother duo getting it done is at Pine Creek. Eagle junior QB Brock Domann threw four TD passes, two to big brother JoJo, as the unbeaten #1 ranked defending 4A champs defeated Durango 41-3.
Rebel ball is rolling as #1 ranked Columbine remains unbeaten posting a dominant 31-7 over Chatfield. The glue all season on offense has been the play of senior QB Jake Lowry. In the win over Chatfield Lowry scored multiple rush TDs early, to keep the Chargers out of the game. Also the Columbine offensive line, led by JT Gentry is getting it done, physically dominating opponents as Lowry and multiple running backs continue to get yards.
Fairview WR Tommy Wakefield had eight catches helping Fairview hold on and beat Fossil Ridge 30-14. The Knights are currently 7-1 as playoffs quickly approach.
Longmont senior athlete and recent Wyoming kicking commit Cooper Rothe had a great game this weekend hitting two long field goals, taking an interception to the house and rushing for a score. Rothe and Longmont are sitting at 8-0 on the eve of playoffs.
Boulder’s TJ Jones rushed for 220 yards and had a kickoff return for a TD as the Panthers took it to Montbello 45-0. For the night Jones accounted for six scores.
Thursday Mullen defeated Bear Creek. Junior running back Marcus McElroy had 245 yards of total offense and three scores.
QB Adam Clary had three TD passes and RB Jeremy Lujan rushed for three scores as Dakota Ridge made quick work of Kennedy this weekend.
Shout out to the Valor Christian defense for posting a shut out on defending 5A champ Cherry Creek. The Eagles had strong performances from the entire D, with highlights from defensive tackle Noah Elliss. The giant 305 pound junior not only anchored the front, but made plays registering seven tackles and two sacks. Also, as has been the case all season, seniors Tanner Tadra and Gabe Kortz made plays while juniors Mitch Howell, a defensive end, and outside backer Christian Ellis, made key plays on the evening.
