One of Colorado’s top all around players, Mikey Griebel of Columbine has been a fixture in the Phenoms so far this season. Currently, Griebel and his Columbine team stand 10-0 having won their first round playoff game against Overland. In the win, Griebel rushed for three scores and caught a touchdown pass. For the season Griebel has 22 combined scores.
Right now Legacy QB Matt Lynch is playing the best football of his career as his Legacy squad, now 8-2, defeated Boulder in the first round of playoffs. In the win, Lynch threw for three scores and rushed for another with a total of 257 yards of offense. Most impressive Lynch has not thrown an interception in the past five games.
Another QB playing their best football of the season is Valor’s Dylan McCaffrey. The highly regarded junior threw five touchdown passes in a playoff victory against Legend High School. Valor’s leading receiver, Ben Waters caught two TD passes and averaged 25 yards a catch in the win.
Fruita-Monument, now 5-5, won their first round playoff game against previously unbeaten Westminster. The star for the Wildcats was sophomore back Braeden Graham who had four rush touchdowns in the win.
Mullen’s Marcus McElroy had a monster game against Rocky Mountain rushing for 236 yards and three scores. McElroy also added three receptions for 55 yards. Rushing the ball, McElroy averaged nearly 16 yards a carry. McElroy will need another big game as his Mustangs take on rival and defending state champ Cherry Creek.
Jumpy Davis of Chaparral rushed for 223 yards helping his Wolverines defeat Fairview.
Kent Denver senior running back Will McKissick rushed for 226 yards and five scores as his squad took it to the Academy this weekend.
Senior QB Mitchell Martin of Strasburg scored three times this week in a playoff win against Alameda.
Delta senior RB Jonny Ponce rushed for 246 yards in a hard fought win, 27-21, over Palisade.
Senior Gino Tate of Wheat Ridge scored three times, everyone needed, in a tight 35-34 win over Denver South.
Jack Wibbels of Pine Creek had 2.5 sacks and two hurries, adding to his season total of 17 sacks, helping Pine Creek secure the #`1 position in the upcoming 4A playoffs.
Elway Tubbs threw for 360 yards and five scores in a win over Falcon. The win helped gain the Wolves a #4 seed in 4A playoffs.
Hayden Blubaugh, junior RB from Grandview, is fast approaching the 2,000 yard mark. In a win against Prairie View, Blubaugh scored four times on eight touches!
