There are few athletes like Devon Harrell of Denver East. At 6-3 180 pounds, Harrell runs in the upper 4.4s, is a very fluid and has a frame that could add significant good weight. This past season, playing quarterback for 6 and 4 Denver East, Harrell completed 64% of his passes with 17 TD passes against only two interceptions. On the ground Harrell averaged 7.7 yards a carry. Defensively, Harrell had two interceptions this season. Right now, Harrell is a key member of the Denver East basketball squad, traditionally one of the best in Colorado, averaging over 16 points a game for the Angels.
Harrell’s skill and production, in every aspect of the game, highlights his versatile athleticism, making him a prized prospect. Due to his rare athletic gifts Harrell has always received DI attention and of late that attention has increased as signing day quickly approaches. College programs are looking at Harrell, who at a long 6-3, has prototypical size, to play receiver or defensive back at the next level. Most impressive Harrell is fluid enough and fast enough that schools even like him a corner. At his height, that puts him in rare company.
Due to his ever increasing attention, Harrell’s stock is rising as a recruit and he is looking to schedule multiple DI visits in the next few weeks. Because numerous programs have started to get on board, Harrell is playing his cards close to the vest. Wisconsin has shown strong interest as has Wyoming, others are Air Force, Utah State, Colorado and San Diego State. With a 3.2 GPA and a 25 ACT score Harrell is a full qualifier. Harrell, who is also gaining college attention for his play on the hardwoods, plans on playing football at the next level.
