2016 Pomona OLB headed to Colorado State

Pomona Defender Stays in State

PrepColorado All-Stater Elijah Leyva of Pomona High School is reporting he will play his college football at Colorado State.  The 2016 outside backer, who holds multiple DII offers, will pursue his DI dreams as a preferred walk-on for the Rams.

Talking about the tough road of a DI walk-on Leyva says, “I'm going to get that scholarship for sure! I'm betting on myself, I know what I can do and I'm going to prove it to them as well.”

Looking at the next level and prepping for college ball Leyva says he needs to improve on having a, “better football IQ as well as building speed, quickness and the ability to play faster.”  Talking about what he brings to the Rams Leyva says, “I’m a versatile player with a high motor.”

Leyva, who will play outside backer for the Rams, bring effort to every down, further he has impressive strength and position versatility.  These attributes will serve him well and if he can add some burst as an outside rusher and get comfortable in coverage, Leyva could very well earn his scholarship sooner rather than later.
