With 25 total touchdowns and an 8.8 yard average per carry, Marcus McElroy established himself as one of the top big play backs in Colorado last season. Beyond his impressive big play ability, the 6-0 200 pounder may be Colorado’s most complete back with the potential to get numerous touches in college. A great receiver out of the backfield, McElroy had 21 receptions last season. McElroy is also big enough and has the football savvy to pick up blitzers in the pass game. Most impressive, McElroy is a mature runner that shows great patience setting up his blockers to maximize runs.
McElroy holds two offers with Colorado and Colorado State looking to keep the talented athlete in state. Beyond the Rams and Buffs, McElroy is hearing from Kansas, Northwestern and Nebraska. As part of his offseason McElroy will hit multiple camps highlighted by Nike’s The Opening.
In addition to his camp schedule, McElroy is hitting the weights hard and is also running track for his Mustangs. McElroy, this spring, will see his offer list increase in that his skill set of size, speed and production are too much to pass on. At the next level, McElroy will make a very good 3rd down back who has the potential to become a solid college back.
