Windsor outside linebacker Corte Tapia had a very busy weekend hitting Junior Days at both Air Force and Wyoming. While in Laramie, Colorado’s All-Time sack leader picked up an offer from the Cowboys. The Wyoming offer is in addition to an earlier offer from Northern Colorado. Tapia reports the offer came directly from Coach Bohl as Tapia and family were in Bohl’s office. Talking about the Junior Day and the Wyoming program Tapia stated it went, “Really well, the coaches are all really great, and bought into building academics and football, also their new facilities are going to be amazing!”
Next for Tapia is Colorado State Junior Day and setting up his camp schedule which could include stops at one of The Opening regional camps, Arizona or Arizona State, Utah, Colorado State, Wyoming, Colorado and potentially Cal. . Now holding an FCS and mid-major offer, Tapia’s recruiting profile is expanding, further, as he hits college camps this spring, Tapia should gain offers as colleges hone in on his versatile, high energy play.
The Cowboys have always hit Colorado hard for talent and this last season Wyoming carried 24 players from the Centennial state. If this past weekend’s junior day is any indication it looks as if the Cowboys will continue this trend. Beyond the offer to Windsor’s Tapia, Wyoming also made an offer to Denver South athlete Esaias Gandy. Gandy, at 6-1 180 pounds, is a rocket on both sides of the ball, playing linebacker on defense and receiver on offense. Watching Gandy’s film, the Cowboys were smart to make an early offer, Gandy is a long and explosive athlete who will pick up more offers throughout the spring and summer.
Beyond the Tapia and Gandy offers, other top Colorado talent made their way to Laramie. Powerful Grand Junction two way lineman Dante Stewart made the trip as did Dakota Ridge DB/WR Keenan Brown. Beyond Wyoming, Brown is gaining interest from Colorado State.
