2017 DB Christian Cumber of Mullen picked up a Big 10 offer as Purdue got on board with the multi-talented defender. Christian has been on the Purdue board for over a year. Cumber’s combination of size and speed puts him in a positions to play multiple spots in the defensive backfield. Also, Cumber will be an early contributor on special team. This weekend Cumber will be at Colorado State’s Junior Day. Next week he will be at Colorado, checking out the business school, watching spring practice and sitting in on team meetings. Beyond his offers and visits, the University of Minnesota is showing more and more interest and an offer may be in the near future.
Cumber’s Mullen defensive back mate and Colorado’s top 2018 prospect, Adrian Jackson, gained another solid Power 5 offer with Utah coming in on the talented 6-2 210 pound defensive back.
Wyoming continues to court top Colorado talent this week with Windsor’s Corte Tapia as well as Columbine teammates Mikey Griebel and Jackson Block hitting Laramie. Talking about Wyoming, Tapia, says, “It was really cool they got great things going on up there.” Tapia’s schedule over the next few weeks includes Junior Day this weekend at Colorado State, followed by the Blue Grey Combine and the Opening in June.
I watched former Grandview DB Cameron Knight’s first year Junior College highlights. Now with a little more size, the 5-11 200 pound safety is DI ready. It is easy to see him plugging in at an FCS school early as a special team’s player and potentially a starting free safety. Bottom line he will contribute. Also, Knight is very comfortable in and out of the box.
Chaparral QB Taden Blaise hit Junior Day at the University of New Mexico. The 6-2 200 pound QB threw for over 2,100 yards to go with 19 TDs during his junior season.
