Today, 2017 Chatfield athlete Dalton Keene announced he will play his college football at Virginia Tech. The Hokies won out over Keene’s other finalists Colorado State and Nebraska.
The 6-5 225 pound Keene is one of the most intriguing athletes in the mountain region, combining great size, athleticism and strength into his versatile game. Great on both sides of the ball, Keene will play H-back/tight end for Virginia Tech.
According to Keene’s father, the decision was based on Dalton’s, “longstanding relationship with Coach Wiles and Coach Foster, and he loves (Coach) Fuente and (Coach) Shibest. Further, Dalton loves the program because, “it feels like home.”
Last season Keene put up very impressive numbers, rushing for 668 yards, grabbing 22 receptions all while making 116 tackles causing two fumbles on defense.
Keene adds to the list of top 2017 Colorado prospects making Power 5 verbals. This past summer 2017 top prospect, OT Jake Moretti of Pomona opted for Ohio State while Valor QB Dylan McCaffrey chose Michigan. Cherry Creek teammates Dante Sparaco and Jon Van Diest decided on Colorado.
