2017 and 2018 could be the most sought after classes of talent in Colorado prep football history, but colleges have already started to make offers to the class of 2019. Earlier this summer Colorado extended an offer to talented Valor Christian athlete Joshiah Davis and today Colorado State offered 2019 Highlands Ranch offensive lineman Austin Johnson.
The Rams were smart to offer the bruising guard early. During his freshman season, playing against some of Colorado’s top programs, the 6-4 260 pounder stood out and was able to physically dominant opponents. Further, the youngster already, has some nasty, enjoying getting opponents on the ground. Finally, the big kid can move, getting down the line and also making it to the next level and getting his hands on linebackers.
It is early, but Johnson has the potential to be a national level recruit. The Ram offer will be the first of many and expect Power 5 programs to get on board. Also, just a youngster, Johnson may be able to grow. Over the next three season, it will be interesting to see Johnson improve on pass blocking and work as a tackle.
