Corte Tapia, the most productive pass rusher in Colorado prep history, reports to PrepColorado that he will play his college ball at Colorado State. The 6-2 225 Windsor linebacker chose the Rams over Wyoming, Air Force, Montana and North Dakota. Breaking down his decision Tapia says, “family and friends, staying close” were key to the decision.
As great as he is getting after the passer, Tapia’s best attribute is his versatility. Lining up in multiple spots for his state defending state champ Windsor squad, Tapia is solid against the run and the pass. Further, Tapia is athletic enough to drop into coverage. In preparation for college ball Tapia says he will have to work on, “speed probably most off and strength of course, and learning the game more.”
With his decision made on the eve of the season, Tapia can now concentrate on his Windsor squad and their attempt to repeat as state champs. Talking about his decision and his focus on the team Tapia says, “It is a relief now I can just focus on the season and it looks really good we have a good chance.” Beyond himself, Tapia references Storm Fox, Brad Peeples and Jake Hammond as keys to a potential repeat.
