Greeley West athlete Darren Delacroix is reporting he will play his college football at Northern Colorado. Delacroix chose UNC over offers from Air Force and Western. Talking about his decision Delacroix says, “I really wanted to stay home and be close to my family and all my friends. Also my brother is there. We are really close so that was a big part of it. Then having a chance to go to school for free and play football is just the icing on the cake.”
Northern Colorado gained a very good athlete in the 6-3 210 pounder who runs in the 4.5 range. Looking at getting ready for the college game and what he needs to work on Delacroix says, “Just being a better student of the game and putting in more time on my own off the field.”
Last season Delacroix’ Greeley West squad went 6-4 as he did a little bit of everything for his team working as a receiver, runner, returner and defensive back. This year talking about the Spartans and their potential success, Delacroix says, “We have a good core group of seniors but we are going to rely on a lot of young guys. So it's up in the air.” Greeley West will find out early how good they are as they open with the always tough Roosevelt High School.
Over the next few years Delacroix is a player to keep an eye on and he should see time early for the Bears. His size will create major matchup problems for defensive backs and also allow him to see the field as a special teamer.null
