When I was a high school defensive coordinator in the mid and late 1990s, the head coach I worked for would always allow me first choice of the players I wanted to build my defense. Naturally, I took the eleven best players on the team. This year, in Colorado high school football, for the class of 08, there are numerous players I would have loved to have had on my squad. I'm not the only coach that would like any or all members of this group on their defense, college coaches from top programs around the nation are lining up for the services of this group. So lets take a look and decide who would lead your D?
Joe Harris Linebacker George Washington High School
6-3 207 pound linebacker brings speed and athleticism to the position and makes it tough to run or throw the ball.
Nolan Brewster Safety Mullen High School
6-2 200 pound Texas bound playmaker is comfortable in the box or in coverage. He can cover you or he can hit you.
Curtis Cunningham Defensive Tackle Columbine
Run stuffing 265 pound tackle has the speed to move to end and also get after the passer. His play was crucial to the Rebel's state title last season.
Jon Major Linebacker Ponderosa
Look up linebacker in the dictionary and there is a picture of Major. The 6-4 230 pounder has all the tools, thus the reason for his nearly fifty college offers.
Chance Crawford Defensive End Fort Collins
6-3 230 pound end is one of the state's top pass rushers.
Tyler Jackson Corner Douglas County
6-1 185 pound Jackson has been a three year starter for a strong Douglas County program. He hits like a backer and runs like a corner.
Patrick Mahnke Safety Mountain Vista
Mahnke's ability to make plays all over the field just cemented his offer to Colorado.
Will Pericak Linebacker Boulder
6-4 240 pounder can get after it against the run.
