Roundup: Mountain Vista Vs. Highlands Ranch

Strong second half against league rival secures win for Mountain Vista

A packed house in Highlands Ranch was the scene as rivals Highlands Ranch and Mountain Vista squared off in a Continental League grudge match.  Highlands Ranch went in at half  with a 9-6 lead due to a one yard touchdown run by Matt Houston.  In the second half, the Golden Eagles scored two touchdowns and kept the Falcons out of the end zone to bring home the win 23-9.  In the third, junior QB Eric Anderson hit Cole Seibel for an eleven yard score.  In the fourth, running back Eric Longoria was able to shake free one of the few times on the night, icing the game with an eight yard touchdown run.

Bottom Line:

If Mountain Vista is going to be a legit league and playoff contender, they will need to get more from the offensive line.  BYU bound big boy Brock Stringham can not go it alone and will need someone to step up and help him in the trenches if the Golden Eagles want to maximize the skills of talented runner Eric Longoria and the potential of junior QB Eric Anderson.

Game Ball:

Mountain Vista senior kicker Phil Prosia hit three fields goals on the evening, including a wind added fifty-five yarder.  These points as well as his touchbacks on kickoffs were a deciding factor in the game.
