4A Top Ten: Week Seven

Ralston Valley holds the #1 spot but has a tough road to close out the season, while Broomfield, Cherokee Trail and Monarch look like teams to beat?

4A remains wide open with ten plus teams that have a legit shot a making a playoff run and bringing home a title.

#1 Ralston Valley

The Mustangs hold the #1 spot as they rolled over Arvada this past weekend.  This week they travel to take on a Standley Lake squad that is coming off its first loss of the season.

#2 Broomfield

Solid once again with a 35-8 win over Thompson Valley.  RB Ryland Snow rushed for over 250 yards and is making a case as a Player of the Year candidate .  This week the Eagles take on 4-3 Niwot

#3 Cherokee Trail

Still undefeated and on a path to finish the season with an unblemished record, The Cougars have only allowed twenty-three, that's right, twenty-three points this season.

#4 Monarch

Since their loss to #3 Cherokee Trail earlier this season, Monarch has outscored opponents 266 to 7.

# 5 Pueblo South

The Colts have a big matchup against unbeaten Air Academy this week in a game that could decide the Foothills League title.

#6 Greeley West

West has a big test this weekend as they host league rival Loveland. QB Rex Morgan looks to be healthy.  In the last few weeks, junior RB Ethan Schmitt has emerged as the workhorse of the Spartan O.

#7 Longmont

With a balanced offense and a stingy defense, Longmont has won five straight since losing its opening two ball games.  A potential win over Mountain View this week sets up a huge matchup the following week against Broomfield.

#8 Wheat Ridge

Since the loss to ThunderRidge, the Farmers have strung together three in a row including last week's four OT thriller against previously unbeaten Standley Lake.

#9 Standley Lake

The 6-1 Gators let one slip away last week against Wheat Ridge and things will not get easier as they see Ralston Valley, Dakota Ridge and ThunderRidge the final three weeks of the regular season.

#10 Fountain-Fort Carson

Currently sitting alone atop the Pikes Peak League, if they stay focused and finish the season undefeated a strong seed may be waiting come playoffs.
