Legacy Kicker Plans Busy Summer

Legacy High School kicker Kip Smith of Broomfield, Colorado has a busy summer planned in an attempt to improve his game and gain a first D1 offer.

The recruitment of kickers is always interesting to watch unfold.  Often D1 schools hold off until they have commits from all the other positions of need.  Also, kickers are often asked to walk on and earn a scholarship.  Prep kickers from Colorado also have to overcome a state specific stigma in regard to altitude; the fear being kickers will not be able to match their high school distances if they come down from the mountains.

Currently, the top returning kicker in Colorado is Kip Smith of Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colorado.  Smith is being extremely proactive regarding his game and recruitment.  Recently, he attended a kicking camp in Texas and this weekend Kip will compete in the Chris Sailor event in Las Vegas.

Along with these kicking events, Smith has a full schedule of team camps in store this summer. West Virginia, LSU, South Carolina, Iowa State, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and SMU may all be on the docket.  Smith has a strong interest in the Mountaineers and calls West Virginia his, "dream school."  Smith may soon draw attention and a first offer due to his triple threat ability to punt, hit field goals and drive kickoffs deep.
