SunStateFootball Top 100: 6-10

The state of Florida is expected to have over 330 players sign D-1 scholarships on signing day. SunStateFootball provides a Pre-Spring Top 100 to highlight SOME of the top players in the state. Here is a look at players 6-10.

SunStateFootball 1-5

6. Dante Fowler

Area Rank: Tampa(1)

School: St Pete Lakewood

Ht/Wt: 6'4, 240

Position: Defensive End

Offers: Committed to Florida State

Fowler has tremendous athleticism for a DE. He moves like a LB with an explosive first step and plenty of room to continue filling out. Figures to be a double digit sack artist while also playing tough on the edge vs. the run. Fowler is not afraid to compete after shining at the 7on7 as a MLB. He is athletic enough to play many different defensive roles. Fowler made an early commitment to his dream school Florida State.

7. Mario Pender

Area Rank: SWFla(1)

School: Cape Coral Island Coast

Ht/Wt: 5'11, 190

Position: Running Back

Offers: Committed to Florida State

Pender ran for over 13 yards a carry and 2,000 yards as a junior. He has legit track speed with impressive acceleration. Despite having deep speed, he is a tough inside runner that thrives on contact. He possesses great feet and makes defenders miss in space. He should fill out to 215+ down the road when he focuses solely on football. Pender made an early commitment to FSU and is 100% solid at this time.

Poole is a dominant CB whose physicality separates him from the pack

8. Brian Poole

Area Rank: SWFla(2)

School: Bradenton Southeast

Ht/Wt: 5'10, 195

Position: Cornerback

Offers: Florida, FSU, Miami, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Alabama

Poole plays the game with an intense attitude that is hard to match in the state. He excels on both sides of the ball having rushed for close to 1,000 yards and making a big impact on defense. Projects to play CB where he shut down the state's top WR last year(Watkins) in a playoff game. Poole lacks ideal height at 5'10, but is built extra thick and has great hops. Very physical. Can probably go anywhere he wants, but word is that UF is in the lead for his services.

9. Kent Taylor

Area Rank: I-75(1)

School: Land O Lakes

Ht/Wt: 6'5, 215

Position: Tight End

Offers: Essentially everyone in country

The state's top TE prospect, Taylor has great height at 6'5 and natural receiver skills. He will be able to line up outside and create mismatches down the field. He runs well, has soft hands, and plenty of upside remaining. He is still young physically, but should begin to fill out over the next year. He is a terrific, physical blocker who takes pride in that part of his game. His father played in the NFL(TB). He holds offers from just about every school in the country, but is expected to stay in-state with FSU holding a lead.

10. Nelson Agholor

Area Rank: Tampa(2)

School: Tampa Berkeley Prep

Ht/Wt: 6'2, 190

Position: Wide Receiver/Safety

Offers: Miami, Florida, FSU, USC, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Notre Dame, Texas

Small school superstar that could play on either side of the ball. Superior athlete with great size and speed/explosiveness. Makes impact plays on both sides of the ball. Biggest question mark is that he plays in one of the smallest classifications, thus will have big adjustment in college. Agholor is just starting to fill out and has a ways to go there. He holds offers from most of the country and is playing his recruitment close to the vest; despite distance USC is considered a real factor.
