Plant City's Jalen Butler Lands First Offer talked with Jalen Butler about his first official offer from Youngstown State and updates in recruiting interests.

Jalen Butler has been attracting more and more attention this spring. Plant City has a large crop of Division 1A talent on the team and it has attracted a lot of coaches to the school to scout the talent on the field. Butler is one of those talented players.

Butler is a rangy, athletic linebacker who measures in around 6'3" to 6'4" and 200lbs. His frame is well suited to carry more weight, which is a must at the next level in order to take on blockers. In the camp and combine circuits, he impressed viewers with his speed and athletic ability, which on the field translates into the ability to cover well from sideline to sideline and make plays.

Over the weekend, Butler picked up his first actual offer from DI-AA Youngstown State. The Penguins' staff had seen film and come to spring practice and loved what they saw.

Jalen admitted that he has not had the opportunity to really look into the school yet, but plans to do some studying.

"I just got the offer the other day, and I have not had the chance to start researching the school yet. I don't know a lot about them."

In addition to Youngstown State, Butler is still receiving a lot of interest from Florida Atlantic, Ball State, Georgia Tech, and Ole Miss, among others.

"A lot of coaches have been coming through here to watch spring practice and they have told the coaches that they really like what I can do," Butler said. "They love my size, my motor, that I am a pretty smart player, and that I do not give up."

With one offer on the table now, hopefully things will open up for the talented linebacker. Check back with for updates on Butler and the other Plant City Raiders.
