1 - Brandon hosted a USA Wrestling tourney on Saturday but had a head-to-head dual against their neighbors from Bloomingdale. The Eagles took care of Bulls by a 52-12 score.

Coach Russ Cozart has one more major hurdle this season as they will host their annual Tony Ippolito tourney this weekend in the Eagles Nest in Brandon.

Top 25-ranked teams that will challenge the Eagles are Springstead, Manatee, Bloomingdale and Gainesville.

2 - South Dade remained in second place as the Bucs won their fifth GMAC tourney in a row. Coach Victor Balmeceda announced that Kendrick Sanders, a two-time state champ and a two-time USA Wrestling Greco National Champ, has been named to the Dream Team by Wrestling USA Magazine.

Sanders was dominating in this tourney – pinning all four of his opponents. Other champs were Earl Hall (103), Mauricio Villanueva (119), Wilson Metellus (135) and Willie Wiggins (215).

3 - Springstead jumps up to third place with their impressive team title in Flagler Rotary. Coach Eric Swensen had three champs and ten place winners. Champs for the Hernando County Eagles were three of their young guns – Richie Bliss (103), Cody Ross (119) and Nick Soto (125); Thad Klenovich (160) was a runner-up while Colton Zimmerman (135) and Scott Wern (189) won bronze.

4 - Kissimmee Osceola drops a place as the Kowbells finished in second place at the Flagler, more than forty points behind Springstead. Coach Jim Bird had two champs – Pete Baldwin (135) and Gabe Bird (145), two runner-ups – Joe Locksmith (130) and Levi Clemons (171) and Matt Joes (125) took a third.

5 - Miami American remained a solid second behind South Dade in the battle for supremacy in Florida 's toughest wrestling county. Coach Ron Osorio had three champs - Armani Harris (112), David Castillo (189) and Henry Chirino (285).

6 - Miami Columbus took a solid third in the GMAC. Coach Jim Husk's Explorers had one champ George Gulesian (130) and a silver medal winner – Jake Rio (135).

7 - Riverdale remains at the number 1 team in Class 1A. I have not heard from the Red Raiders in a long time. Calling Coach Kris Hayward.

8 - Palmetto Ridge won the Collier County tourney for the fourth year in a row. Coach Mark Rosenbalm's Bears won ten weight classes and took second in three others.

9 - Cardinal Gibbons won the Broward county tourney again. The question is whether it was their 10th win out of the last 11 years according to the Miami Herald or their 8th win out of the last 9 years according to the Ft Lauderdale Sun Sentinel.

Coach Frank "Big Chief" Pettineo Sr., had three champs – Domingo Simmons (119), CJ Burke (135) and Junior (145), two silvers – Paul Marcello (125) and Chris Andrade (130) and a bronze – Jovan Condrey (140).

10 - Lake Gibson had the week off as they passed on the opportunity to wrestle in Polk County at either the Lakeland or McKeel Duals. Coach Dan Walker is probably going to have stay home to face the rest of Polk County either this weekend or next.

11 - Oviedo had the week off. They next face their neighbors from Winter Springs on Wednesday on Senior Night in "The war off 434".

12 - Manatee won the Falcon Duals at Dunedin . Coach Andy Gugliemini had six wrestlers go unbeaten at 5-0 - Travis Fulk (112), Jacob Gregory (125), Marshall Stewart (130), Daniel Dykes (152), Issac Riley (160) and Roney Daniels (215).

13 - Bloomingdale won the Championship of the Tigers Duals in Palmetto.

14 – St Thomas finished third behind Gibbons and Western in the BCAA. Coach Mark Fee had three champs – Gunnar Magliocca (130) and the Weiss Brothers, Luke (160) and Paul (171); a silver – Sean Donnelly (112), two bronze – Andy Ball (103) and Joey Eterno (125) and a fourth – Brandon Pellecer (135).

The Raiders face the Chiefs in a head-to-head dual at Fort Pettineo on Wednesday night.

15 - Pace took another weekend off. I think they competed in some dual meets within Dade County but I'm not certain of that.

16 - Miami Palmetto placed 4th in the GMAC. They had one champ – Brett Phillips (171), a silver -Seth Dorne (189), a bronze – Juan Barrios (125) and five other placers.

17 - Clay jumped up a few paces with their third place finish at Flagler. Coach Jim Reape had seven place winners led by runner-ups Casey Soileau (140) and Kyle Mills (152) while Garrett Soileau (130) and Eric Minich (171) took bronze medals.

18 - Dunedin took second in their annual Falcon Duals losing to Manatee 59-18.

19 – Niceville won the Panhandle Championships at Crestview by 114.5 points. Coach G had ten finalists including three champs – Jacob Green (119), Lance Murray (145) and Nate Hartley (152).

20 - Winter Springs placed a solid fourth place at Flagler. Coach Scott Gomrad had one champ, Matt Nereim (130), George Mills (285) won a bronze and five other place winners.

21 - Citrus took second place behind Bloomingdale at the Tiger Duals.

22 - Hialeah Miami Lakes placed fifth in the GMAC. They had seven place winners led by bronze medal winner Josh Turner at 103.

23 - Miami Braddock took sixth place in the GMAC, just a five and half points behind HML. Coach Saul Tejada had one champ, Eric Chandler (125), his 4th GMAC title while brother, Gabe took third at 119. Fernando Baltodano (135) and Randy Pineyro (140) settled for fourth places.

24 - Palm Bay took fifth at Flagler. Coach Sean Ballard had two champs – Tony Mauro (140) and Caylor Williams (189); Harry Balgo (103) and Josh Wofford (285) won silver medals.

25 - Gainesville High placed sixth at Flagler. Coach Ryland Wagner a gold – Jacob Harmer (171), silver – Matt Van Scoy (189) and silver – Deanarius Wilson (145).
