2010 Prospect Video: Colton Odom

Colton Odom is one of the top OT's in the Sunshine State for 2010, the rising junior is starting to attract the attention of colleges in the South, particularly the Florida schools. SunStateFootball.com caught up with the talented mauler to talk some recruiting and present his highlight clips.

Odom who plays at Rockledge High School is a 6'5, 302(today) pound prototype for OL. Rockledge was 2-8 last year, but has won State Championships this decade in 2001 and 2002, Odom was confident that they would be a much improved team in 2009.

It is an interesting time of year on the recruiting trail for Offensive Linemen, and he is hearing from several schools. He talked about his favorites:

Central Florida: "I love how they handle the recruiting process, I have been to many games at their new stadium, and the indoor practice facility is top notch. It is only 45 minutes from home and I think I have established a good relationship with the coaches."

Florida: "They have such a rich tradition, they are winning championships, the facilities are awesome, and I have been a fan for a long time."

Miami: "Mike Barrow is recruiting me, I loved their recruiting package they sent, I am very interested in Miami."

USF: "I have been to a camp there, I really liked what I saw."

Three other schools can be grouped together, "Alabama, Auburn, and Cincinnati. I don't know a lot about any of them, but I am learning about the programs, and I am definitely interested in what they bring to the table. I'm not set on staying in Florida, it is just the schools I have had the most contact with."

Odom is a well rounded athlete, he sports a 3.0 GPA and has become a tireless worker, "I have always been a big kid, but I needed to get in shape. I committed to football and have been working hard to get stronger, leaner, and quicker. I have two personal trainers, one who works with me for speed and another who I do weight training with."

One thing that jumps out at you in the video is that Odom looks much leaner weight wise than he actually is. While in the video he looks in the 260-270 range, he was actually in the 280-290 range, and has since bulked up to 300 lbs. This is a player who really has a high ceiling down the road, he has the tools, and it is clear he is going to work himself into the best player he can be."
